I’m on Facebook Again

In : Lifestyle, Posted by Kimberley on Jan.01, 2010

A few years ago I joined Facebook, filled out some of my profile and never really visited the site again.  Looking back the wise thing to do would have been to leave it at that, but I didn’t.  I went back on the site after getting invited when a family member or friend sent me an email.  (I can’t remember who it was.) I thought I’d give it another chance and went back.

“Be the Change” 2010

In : Lifestyle, Posted by Kimberley on Jan.01, 2010

It’s hard to believe 2010 is here! It only seems like yesterday we were all worrying about Y2K where at midnight on Jan. 1, 2000 power grids were suppose to shut down, nuclear missiles would shoot into the sky from which planes would already be falling!  People were filling bathtubs up with water and stocking up on non perishable food items and generally freaking out, if not visibly, at least on the inside.  Yet here we are, ten years later still alive and hopefully well.

I didn’t see you there

CNTowerSometimes I pass people I know without even saying “hi”.  It’s not because I’m being unfriendly or because I don’t feel like talking to them.  It’s because I can’t see them and don’t realize they are there unless they say something to me first.  It could seem like I looked right at them so I am often asked why I didn’t stop to chat or have people that are a  bit upset with me without me realizing why until they tell me.  Of course once I explain things they usually say they should have realized, but I have to explain this to every new person I meet.

Top 10 Advantages of Being Blind

In : Lifestyle, Posted by Kimberley on Dec.12, 2009

Disney WorldI keep hearing comments that are filled with pity towards me.  This annoys me maybe more than it should!  A lot of these comments go along the lines of “that poor blind girl” or “it’s a pity she can’t see”.  The people who know me are probably laughing at how wrong these statements are right about now!  For those of you who don’t know me I’ve decided to compile a list of some of the advantages of being blind!  (Yes you heard right!)  You see life is not all doom and gloom if you can’t see.  So pack up your pity and put it away because like most blind and low vision people I don’t want it!  I suggest you read this list and share it with your friends, family, co-workers and even blind/v.i. friends.
